The Golden State Warriors came away with a 1 point win over the Toronto Raptors last night, 106-105. The Raps are up 3-2 now and heading back to Oakland for Game 6 on Thursday night.

Kevin Durant

  • Just a devastating injury. I can’t believe he even played in this series when clearly the weakened calf lead to the achilles injury. I had been hearing people speculate for weeks about the lack of transparency surrounding this injury and he barely practiced leading up to last night’s game. Seems like a terrible decision in hindsight to let him play. I hope the Warriors do some soul searching and make sure they know what they are doing.
  • As for the fan reaction – it was bad. I won’t justify but I will at least explain what I think was the catalyst behind it. This team being so close to a championship, with KD appearing to be legitimately threatening that, they just felt a sense of relief that the guy who was gunning for you was done. A terrible, in the moment reaction that I would hope most of the fans regret already. Not a good look overall and it’s awful to celebrate an injury, especially one as serious as this.

The bloody three pointers…

  • 60-24…that was the difference in points off 3 pointers last night and you still only lost by 1 point. The Warriors were lights out and the Raptors…just weren’t. This is one of main reasons I am not worried about this series. Are they capable of shooting that well again from 3? Yes. Is it likely they do this while the Raptors also shoot so poorly from 3 again? No way. Danny Green was a ghost again from 3 last night and Pascal had a number of good looks (he has not been shooting well from 3 since MIL). Kawhi and Kyle missed a couple good looks each too. To win at this level, against a team this good, you need to shoot better from 3. Kevin Durant went 3 for 3 from three in 12 minutes before getting injured. That’s a bigger contribution than most of the guys playing in his place have done in previous games.
